John Merchant JD is an attorney whose years of practice primarily revolved around liability and contractual issues.
John thoroughly knows the legal and liability issues present in the ownership and management of the Manufactured Home Community (MHC).
John has long been involved in dealing with some of the MHCs' owners biggest problems including how to buy & own the MHC…what entity to use, or whether to use any legal entity or just in his/her/their own names…and how to set up its ownership so as to leave the MHC to the owner's widow or estate as planned.
He has spoken to many groups on a number of legal topics including those mentioned above and uses and investment of IRA accounts on which he is a nationally recognized authority.
John was the featured speaker on Bill Mencarow's * Note Boat Alaska Cruise recently where he spoke on the uses of the Self Directed IRA to buy real estate and real estate notes.
Most interesting is his work on strategies on living with Dodd-Frank while we all work to modify and detoxify that law's harmful effects on manufactured housing. John's strategies for dealing with it now – as-it-is are interesting to hear.
He is currently a moderator of several real estate investment online "forums" where he answers questions relating to real estate and manufactured home issues legal issues.**
Being the ever-cautious lawyer at heart he makes it a point to look at MHC related law in whatever state he might be speaking or working.
